Fairhaven has intentionally chosen to be a Lighthouse congregation, in order to provide a safe haven for individuals and groups who desire to remain part of The United Methodist Church, even though their previous congregation has chosen to disaffiliate.
As a Lighthouse congregation we welcome you and will provide space for grief and transition into God’s promised future. We will partner in this work through
-
Providing a welcoming place to belong during this time of grief and transition, for as long as you or your group needs it. This includes a place with caring relationships, listening hearts, and unconditional love within a congregation that is confident it will not disaffiliate and continue to remain in the UMC.
-
Offering “No pressure” ministry opportunities. These will include worship, discipleship, and mission.
-
Organizing local Beginning Again groups by connecting with individual persons and groups that feel displaced by disaffiliating churches.
-
Connect you with Conference and District resources to help discern your next steps as you consider a new church home.
Christ’s light is shining brightly and we trust the Spirit to guide us and The United Methodist Church to be even stronger in our witness for the Gospel.
