Rev. Ken Hawes began ministry at Fairhaven United Methodist Church in July 2019 after having served churches in Wheaton, MD, Hagerstown, MD, Croton-on-Hudson, NY, and Stamford, CT. Ken earned his Masters of Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. and was ordained in the New York Conference in 1994 (deacon) and 1997 (elder).

Ken’s passions in ministry are preaching and worship, helping individuals and congregations grow in love and service to Christ, and seeking justice and peace in God’s world.  Throughout his time in ministry, Rev. Hawes has been active with the Methodist Federation for Social Action, a variety of interfaith organizations, and served on multiple conference committees and commissions. He is currently on the board of Just Neighbors, a conference ministry providing legal services for immigrants.

Ken is an avid musician, serving as principal horn of the NIH Philharmonia Orchestra, and performing with a variety of ensembles in the metropolitan D.C. area. He holds music performance degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and S.U.N.Y. Purchase. Ken also enjoys baseball, photography, hiking and biking.  He is married to Nancy Hammond, and they provide a home for a retired racing greyhound.
